EL ATLAS LINGÜÍSTICO GUARANÍ-ROMÁNICO. UNA INTRODUCCIÓN AL PROYECTO

Abstract

El proyecto lingüístico Atlas Lingüístico Guaraní-Romance (ALGR intenta dar respuesta a una serie de preguntas relacionadas con la zona guaranítica: Paraguay, nordeste de Argentina y partes limítrofes de Brasil. Antes de este proyecto, ni los investigadores ni
los políticos habían considerado cómo se distribuía el uso de las lenguas, el conocimiento y el comportamiento lingüístico en cada una de estas áreas correspondientes; si había variedades regionales del guaraní y del español; si el comportamiento lingüístico dependía
de la clase social del hablante; y cómo se distribuía entre hombres y mujeres y entre diferentes generaciones. Hasta el presente proyecto de investigación, nunca se había tenido un conocimiento fiable de la verdadera expansión territorial del guaraní y la interferencia lingüística entre el guaraní y el español en Paraguay, Argentina y Brasil. Una de las diferencias más importantes en
la metodología de ALGR es el hecho de anguage use, knowledge and linguistic behavior were distributed in each of these corresponding areas; whether there were regional varieties of Guaraní and Spanish; whether linguistic behavior depended on the social class of the speaker; and how it was distributed between men and women and between different generations.
Until this research project, there had never been reliable knowledge of the true territorial expansion of Guaraní and the linguistic interference between Guaraní and Spanish in Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. One of the most important differences in the ALGR
methodology is the fact that primary data were not excluded simply because they did not fit an analytical format or because they were not relevant to a particular research objective. This article presents the importance of the ALGR linguistic project, its methodology
and its objectives: not only to describe but also to document, for the first time, the expansion of Guaraní, beyond the borders of Paraguay. For the first time, an indigenous language is part of the research for a linguistic atlas of Latin America.
